Ansel Adams was born 2/20/1902 and died 4/22/1984. He is well known for his black and white photographs of the American West, his favorite place to take photos was at Yosemite National Park. He and Fred Archer developed the Zone System in 1955. The Zone System is a way to determine proper exposure and adjust the contrast of the final print. This resulted in clarity and depth. He is also the founder of the Group f/64 and this group created the Museum of Modern Art's department of photography. The f/64 got it's name from a setting of a camera aperture that gives particularly good resolution and depth of field.
Ansel Adams was born in 1902 in San Francisco, California. Ansel Adams first camera was Kodak, Brownie Box. Adams first love was not photography instead it was playing the piano. When he was 12 years old he taught himself how to play the piano, and read music. Ansel Adams during his childhood found joy in nature. Adams love of nature was "nurtured in the Golden Gate, his life was, colored and modulated by the great earth gesture of the Yosemite National Park".
